I should probably preface this review by saying this is my favourite film ever created. Shadows In The Sun is a film about a publisher, Jeremy Taylor (Joshua Jackson), trying to convince a famous author, Weldon Parish (Harvey Keitel), to start writing again after he stopped following the death of his wife. The plot may not be anything groundbreaking but it hooks you in and makes you fall desperately in love with each of the characters. The cinematography does wonders for Italy with its breathtaking vistas and dreamy sun-drenched locations. I usually like larger-than-life, expensive blockbuster popcorn films that push the boundaries of current filmmaking practice, but this film hit every note for me and took me to a different level. Even if you’re not a fan of romantic dramas, do yourself a favour and watch this one.
