If you’re into big popcorn movies like I am, you will enjoy this but probably won’t be entirely satisfied. Kong: Skull Island does well to hold your attention with a well paced screenplay, but loses you on the cliché story structure. The acting wasn’t all that bad but there were moments during the action when I laughed at how terribly stupid some of the character choices were.

Artistically it was actually a really well made film, the colour palette in some shots almost made the scene look like a painting and the costume design really drew you into the era. The CG was amazing – there was never a point in the film when I was pulled out because of some flaw in the character model, you actually believed that these huge creatures were in the scene with the actors. But all this wasn’t quite enough to get past the rehashed Godzilla style script.
